Bayside Academy Music Program
The music program at Bayside Academy is a rigorous, growing program that offers a mix of instrumental & choral music instruction. In a STEM focused program, Bayside students have the option to take music as an elective in addition to their academics. By doing so, students are engaged in daily lessons that enhance their musicianship.
Students have the option to begin learning instrumental music in 6th or 7th grade by either joining Beginning Band or Beginning Strings. These classes meet every day. When students successfully pass one of these classes, they have the option to sign up for the Bayside Concert Band or Bayside Chamber Orchestra for the following school year (7th or 8th grade). These classes offer more advanced instrumental instruction for students who seek further enjoyment and improvement in music.
Students also have the option to learn choral music in 6th-8th grade by signing up for the Bayside Chorus. In the chorus program, students are involved in a fun and engaging environment to learn how to use their voice and sing in a group. Throughout the trimester, students get the opportunity to explore many aspects of choral instruction including vocal technique, solfege instruction, music notation, singing in unison or two-parts, and proper use of the middle school voice.
